Dr. Peter Meades

High quality Counselling and Psychotherapy

Sometimes we need help to face certain problems, challenges or difficulties in life.

Peter Meades

UKCP reg. & IPTUK accred. Psychotherapist

Psychotherapy is a talking therapy within which it's possible to explore experiences and to increase awareness of what’s going on for us, and our relationships with others - ultimately to live more satisfying lives, more fully in the present.

I‘m an integrative therapist with a doctorate in psychotherapy, and a broad training background in various other approaches (e.g. cognitive behavioural therapy, compassion focussed therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy).

I have extensive experience mostly in the NHS and private practice but also in the third sector.

I take an inclusive, non-pathologising view of gender and sexuality and recognise the broad range of gender, sexual, and relationship diversities (GSRD).

Aa a pluralist, I think all the different counselling and psychotherapy approaches have something valuable to offer. I integrate theoretical and technical ideas, recognising the importance of evidence-based practice as well as practice-based evidence.

As a client, it’s helpful to know that even though there are many different types of therapy, most experienced therapists tend to work quite similarly, by attending to the relationship between client and therapist, and drawing on theory and techniques depending on what's needed, and likely to be most helpful.

I am registered/accredited with the UKCP and with IPTUK.

I currently work full-time in the NHS during the week so my availability for private work is in the evenings, Monday to Friday.

I work is with adults 18+, individually, and either digitally (video) or face-to-face.
